The Thrissur Vigilance and Anti-corruption Court on Monday ordered a Vigilance inquiry against Thrissur MLA and former Speaker Therambil Ramakrishnan in connection with the alleged sale of 13 cents of land of the Chacha Nehru Children’s Library here.
While considering a petition filed by Ramesh Puthanveettil of Thrissur, Vigilance Judge and Inquiry Commissioner V Bhaskaran ordered a detailed probe in this regard.
In his petition, Ramesh alleged that, when Ramakrishnan was the president of the facility in 1991, there were irregularities while selling the land belonging to the Chacha Nehru Children’s Library to a private party.
Ramesh had earlier filed a petition against Ramakrishnan on the same issue, and a Vigilance inquiry team had submitted a report in the court following preliminary investigation. He was given a clean chit in the report. In his petition, Ramesh also sought to quash the report submitted by the Vigilance team in the court.
Radhakrishnan of Ayyappathu Veettil and his wife Ramani, the current land owners, are also accused in the case.
