Sitapur: A man allegedly raped and murdered an eight-year-old girl in Rasoolpur locality, police said on Sunday.
The girl was raped by 23-year-old Dileep on Saturday when she was outside her house in the locality, they said. The accused slit the throat of the girl before surrendering to the police.
A probe is on in the matter and police have sent the body of the victim for postmortem.
