New Delhi: Delhi’s Metro train network has been rated as a ‘world class’ service by a leading international accrediting service of UK.
The United Kingdom Accredition Service (UKAS), recently conducted a surveillance witness audit of the rail network and said that DMRC’s housekeeping, and operational controls are truly matching with the global standards.
UKAS is a national accredition body recognised by the UK government that assesses against international agreed standards, provides certification after testing and inspection of services.
"The fact that DMRC included occupational health and safety in an integrated management system is particularly laudable," UKAS auditor Andrew Marlow was quoted by PTI.
He said, "DMRC's efforts on water harvesting and energy saving are a model for other big organisation to follow." Commenting on the report, DMRC CPRO Anuj Dayal said,
"It is the management style which is unique. It is based on practical experience and experiences of its leaders. The credit goes to the managing director and entire DMRC team."
Dayal said due to DMRC's standards, countries like Pakistan, Syria, Ireland, Sri Lanka and Vietnam have interacted with DMRC officials for metro systems.
DMRC officials last month visited Lahore in Pakistan on the request of authorities in that country to provide suggestions on establishing a metro system there.
