The blasts took place about an hour before the Mumbai versus Bangalore match was scheduled to start.

Bangalore: Bangalore's M Chinnaswamy Stadium was rocked by two low intensity bomb blasts on Saturday afternoon just an hour before the Indian Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers, Bangalore was scheduled to start.

The blasts took place in the generator room, which is situated near Gate No. 12 of the stadium. Eleven people were injured in the blast. Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidri said the police suspected that someone had planted some explosives inside a bag behind the plastic boards in the generator room.

"It wasn't a powerful explosion. We are looking for clues. There is no cause for panic. We have called the forensic experts," said Bidri.

Karnataka Cricket Association also termed the explosion as a minor incident.

"It's a minor incident in the generator room. No need to worry. We will have a delayed start (of the match) though," Karnataka Cricket Association Assistant Secretary Sudhakar Rao was quoted as saying by the PTI.

The players of both the teams - Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers, Bangalore, were inside the stadium when the blasts took place.

Security has been tightened in Kolkata following the blast in Banglore. Kolkata Knight Riders take on Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens in the second IPL match of the day.
