BANGALORE: A 42-year-old employee of State Bank of Mysore Sheshadripuram branch was murdered in her apartment’s lift by the building’s security guard.The motive behind murder is still a mystery. The victim Anasuya, a cashier, was killed at the Polo Garden Apartment on Upper Pipeline in Seshadripuram on Friday afternoon. Anasuya’s husband Krishnan, is a mechanical engineer at a firm in Rajajinagar. The couple had two daughters, Aditi (10) and Arati (8).The family was living in house No 301 of the apartment with Anasuya’s mother Lakshmi. The accused, Ashraf Khan, aged about 26 years, allegedly slit her throat open with a knife and stabbed her five times on her head and face and escaped.A native of Assam, he has been working in the apartment for over three years.Police have launched a manhunt for him.According to the police, Anasuya used to come home for lunch everyday on her scooter between 1 pm and 1.30 pm.On Friday, however, she arrived on foot at 1.20 pm.As she entered the lift, Khan, who was sitting near the gate, followed her into it.Later, a resident on the ground floor and a woman waiting for lift on the ground floor, heard Anasuya screaming.“The lift came to the ground floor and as its door opened, the duo were shocked to see Anasuya in a pool of blood.Meanwhile, Khan threatened them at knife point, threw the knife in the lift and walked to the cellar and then escaped through the main gate,” police added.Later, residents informed police, who examined the spot and shifted the body to Bowring Hospital.“The possibility of murder for gain is almost ruled out as the jewels on the victim and her mobile were not taken.We will get more information only after we inquire with her husband and daughters who are in Mysore on vacation,” police said.Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) of East division, B Dayananda, and senior police officials visited the spot.Finger prints experts and sniffer gogs were pressed into service.Seshadripuram police have registered a case in this regard RESIDENTS SHOCKEDA resident of the apartment, on condition of anonymity, said Khan was good natured and the murder came as a shock.“He was was very co-operative.We never expected a murder would happen in our apartment.We are more shocked to learn that Khan did it,” he said.Srinivas Kumar, the victim’s colleague, said Anasuya was a very good colleague and was the favourite of the customers.“She used to work at the head office and was transferred two years ago.She was supposed to accompany her husband and daughters to Mysore.But since there was nobody to look after her mother, she stayed back.The family had performed a ‘homa’ for their well being a few days ago, but now she has met a bad end,” he lamented.MOTHER NOT INFORMEDMeanwhile, the residents of the apartment, colleagues of the victim and the police found it difficult to inform Anasuya’s mother Lakhsmi, who was in the flat, about the murder.The latter had prepared lunch for her daughter and was waiting for her.But her colleagues told her Anasuya was injured in an accident but there was no cause for concern.But the presence of police and other residents made Lakshmi suspicious and kept asking about her daughter’s well-being.Slain BBMP corporator Nataraj’s house is just next to Anasuya’s apartment.The three policemen who were posted at his residence had no clue about the murder till their colleagues arrived in large numbers.If the two persons, who saw the murder first, had raised an alarm, the murdered could have been caught.SECOND BANK STAFFER’S MURDEROn September 25, Shankar Pujari (55), chief manager at the regional office of the Oriental Bank of Commerce on M G Road was found murdered at his residence in Yediyur in Jayanagar police limits.
