HYDERABAD: As many as 10 MLAs of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and an independent MLA were suspended from the Assembly on Wednesday for two days by Speaker Nadendla Manohar for disrupting the proceedings of the House. Protesting against the suspensions, the CPI and BJP legislators walked out of the House.However, the main opposition TDP, which had disrupted the House for the last five days demanding sacking of excise minister Mopidevi Venkataramana for is alleged involvement in the liquor syndicates, remained silent.As soon as the session began in the morning, the TRS members, who have been stalling the proceedings for the past five days demanding a resolution on Telangana statehood, resumed their protest.They rushed to the Speaker’s podium and insisted that the speaker have a discussion on their adjournment motion on the Telangana issue.The CPI and BJP legislators stood up at their respective seats and raised their voice in support of the TRS’s demand.The MIM MLAs, on the other hand, took objection to the government not conducting the recent VRO and VRA recruitment exam in Urdu language.As pandemonium prevailed in the House, the Speaker at 9.15 am adjourned the proceedings for half-an-hour.However, the House reassembled only at 12.30 pm and the TRS MLAs started their protest immediately disregarding the Speaker’s request to resume their seats and discuss the issue in other forums.Roads and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao too intervened saying that the government ‘respects’ the Telangana sentiment but the members should let the House to transact business as five days were already lost.As the TRS members failed to respond to his pleas, he moved a motion to suspend them from the House for the day.The motion was carried through a voice vote and marshals were called in to evict the suspended MLAs.The suspended MLAs are: Etela Rajender, Harish Rao, KT Rama Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Koppula Eshwar, Vidyasagar Rao, Odelu, G Arvind Reddy, E Ravinder Reddy, K Samaiah and S Satyanarayana.CPI MLA Sambasiva protested the TRS MLAs’ suspension and lashed out at the Congress for failing to keep its word on Telangana.BJP floor leader Y Lakshminarayana accused the Congress of taking a u-turn after promising Telangana.The House then took up a discussion on the motion of thanks to governor’s address.
