TN: Mexican woman found dead, boyfriend held
The partially burnt body of Ceule Denise Acosta, a dance student who went missing on April 9, was found in a suitcase on Tuesday.

Madurai: A middle-aged Mexican woman who had gone missing in Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district on April 9, was allegedly found murdered in Madurai on Tuesday. Her 40-year-old boyfriend was later arrested for allegedly murdering her and disposing the body in a suitcase after burning half of it, police said.

The 36-year-old Ceule Denise Acosta, learning Mohiniyattam classical dance at a deemed University of arts and culture at Thrissur in Kerala, was reported missing since April 9.

Her boyfriend Manric, also a Mexican national, had complained that Acosta went missing after she boarded a bus at Krishnankovil near Madurai.

Police said Manric, a PhD student at Kalasalingam University near Srivilliputhur, was angry with Acosta as she decided to go with her French boyfriend.

Manric told police that she wanted him to hand over the five-year-old girl born to her through him and there was a heated exchange between the couple.

Police strongly suspect that the partially burnt body found in the suitcase could be that of Acosta. The age group and body description matched with that of Acosta and the body had been recovered two days after she went missing.

The body's identity could be confirmed only after report of the skull superimposition test was received. Only to cover up her colour, the body had been burnt, officials said.
