TIRUCHY: The dreams of domestic and international travellers pending for a long time came true when a multi-cuisine restaurant at the Tiruchy airport was inaugurated by S Dharmaraj, Director, Airport Authoritys of India (AAI) on Monday .Prior to the AAI calling for an e-tender, the Coimbatore-based GV Food Court bagged the project for a period of five years.The 60-seat restaurant is set up in an area sprawled about 4500 sq ft on the first floor of the new terminal building. The restaurant will cater to the travellers, transit passengers and the airport staff. “The menu has been moderately priced here. Also, there is a concessional price for the staff”, said C Moovendran, a partner in the restaurant. Explaining the pricing in detail, he said, a set of idly is `14 while it is `10 for the staff. Coffee and tea is priced at `20 for passengers, `15 for visitors and `10 for the staff. A vegetarian meal costs `60 for travellers and `50 for the staff. A non-vegetarian meal costs `50 and `70. Based on the demands from the passengers, other food items would be included”, said, Moovendran.The restaurant has recruited about 15 staff including a chef and the facility is under electronic surveillance. A bar will be set in an area of 600 sq ft. “We have acquired clearance from the AAI to set-up the bar which will provide only beer. We are awaiting the nod from the local authorities which is expected to be received within a few weeks”, said, Moovendran.
