New Delhi: Three Tibetans were detained on Sunday afternoon when they tried to stage a protest outside the Chinese embassy in New Delhi to protest the visit of Defence Minister Gen Liang Guanglie.

The protest was organised by 'Students for a Free Tibet' to highlight their demand for freedom of their homeland from China.

Dorjee Tseten, a spokesperson for the organisation, said the three protesters burnt Chinese flag as part of their protest.

Police immediately picked them up and took them to a nearby police station.

The Chinese Defence Minister will be in the country for five days from today during which India and China will discuss about having more Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) and ways of strengthening their military ties besides other issues.
