New Delhi: Delhi police on Saturday arrested three persons for allegedly putting fake number plates on trucks to obtain loans from private finance companies on them. "Vinod Ram (54), Ricky Arora (28) and Amit Oberoi (34) were arrested from Garhi Nizam Pur village located at Jonti Nizam Pur Road," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.
"A truck was also recovered from them on which they were putting fake chassis number and registration number plates to obtain loan from a private finance company," he said. According to the police, ACP KPS Malhotra received a tip off that some persons, who change the chassis and registration numbers of trucks to obtain finance from various private finance companies, will come at a plot in Garhi Nizam Pur village with one Tata truck. On this information, a raid was conducted at around 4.00 PM on the spot where Vinod and Ricky were found tampering with the chassis number of Tata Truck bearing registration number HR-69-5302.
The original number plate was found lying near the truck whereas a fake number plate bearing number HR-47-D-1127 was affixed on it. 23 punching dyes, 12 grinder plates, 1 grinding machine etc were also found at the spot, the police said. During interrogation, Vinod and Ricky allegedly disclosed that the recovered truck was bought by one Amit Oberoi alias Jeetu Oberoi. They were tampering the chassis number and registration number of the said truck, so that they may obtain loan on this truck. Hence, an FIR in this regard was registered and the duo was arrested. Later on, Amit was also booked on their instance, the police said.
