HYDERABAD: Traders of the Andhra Pradesh Federation of Textiles Association (APFTA) has called for a two-day bandh on September 7 and 8. They will meet on September 7 at Exhibition Grounds at Nampally in Hyderabad.
According to a press note issued by APFTA here on Monday, the bandh will be held to protest against not withdrawing the four per cent VAT on textiles though the neighbouring states have been exempted of it.The textile traders are being adversely affected by VAT as they are losing out their business to other neighbouring states. The APFTA, however, decided to intensify the agitation and reaffirm their resolution to continue the agitation till the VAT on textile is withdrawn by the government.

It is informed that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, CPM state general secretary B V Raghavulu and CPI state secretary K Narayana will address the gathering in the meting on September 7. They have also decided to organise a Chalo Assembly programme during the next assembly session. The APFTA has decided to conduct regional meetings in Telangana and Rayalaseema regions if the government does not respond.
