Even as former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa started his two-day dharna here on Friday protesting the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, the state BJP has decided to dispatch a delegation of its MPs from the state to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding the withdrawal of Cauvery River Authority’s order.
The delegation led by Bangalore South MP H N Ananthkumar will meet the PM on Sunday.
The state BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa, and others who met here on Friday also decided to support the bandh call given by various organisation on October 6 to protest the release of water.
Yeddyurappa while staging dharna lashed at the four Union ministers from the state for ‘failing’ to protect the interest of the state and demanded their resignation.
He accused the PM of showing step motherly treatment to the state.
Yeddyurappa also spoke to Cauvery River Protection Committee chairman G Made Gowda over phone and told him that he would come to Mandya.
He also told Gowda that he was ready to resign as an MLA for the sake of farmers.
