COIMBATORE: After a brief gap, instances of sporadic violence over the Mullaiperiayar dam row have resurfaced again in the city with properties of Keralites being targeted.Sources said that unidentified persons had pelted stones at a bakery in Avarampalayam, owned by a Keralite, late on Sunday night. Around 10 persons assembled in front of the shop and raised slogans against Kerala’s stand on Mullaiperiyar dam and allegedly broke the glass showcase in the shop.In another incident on Monday evening, a youth allegedly threw a stone on the windshield of a car bearing a Kerala registration number. Eyewitnesses claimed that he shouted that the Kerala Government was acting against the interest of farmers of TN before speeding away on a motorcycle. However, the city police maintained that these attacks were unrelated to the ongoing inter-State row. “Only one violent incident has been reported in Coimbatore - the damage of a showcase in a bakery on State Bank Road on Wednesday last,” a police officer said.
