KOCHI: Spices Board has spearheaded many programmes to spread the reputation of the Indian spices across the world, said K M Chandrasekharan, vice-chairman Kerala State Planning Board and the founding chairman of the Spices Board.He was inaugurating “Spiced Nostalgia-2012”, the silver jubilee celebration of the Spices Board organised by the Spices Board Staff Club here on Tuesday.“The successful journey of Spices Board through the last 25 years was possible due to the active cooperation and effort of its employees,” he said.Over the past 25 years, the board has put to practice many novel ideas like the ‘buyer-seller’ meets, spices park, spices labs and spices fair, he said. In the last five years, our exports have doubled, claimed A Jayathilak, chairman, Spices Board, said. “Our vision is to make India the international hub of spice products with a capacity to export products worth $3 billion by 2017,” said Jayathilak, adding that the board has been focusing on skill development programmes for its employees.‘Spices Board - Down the Memory Lane’, a film depicting the board’s growth over the years was screened at the function.“Manninte Nombaram, Manushyanteyum”, a street play narrating the positive agricultural practices was also staged.
