BANGALORE: President of the Constitutional Court of Republic of Slovenia Professor Dr Ernest Petric visited the High Court and witnessed the proceedings of Public Interest Litigations (PIL) on Thursday.He sat in the Bench along with Chief Justice Vikaramajit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna. Justice Sen introduced the guest saying that he was present in the Court to know about the PILs. Petric witnessed the proceedings of two PILs related to building bylaws violations by Mantri Mall and other petition by Citizen’s Action Group of Koramangala seeking revival of Mestripalya Lake, which has been allegedly acquired by BDA. He also asked a few questions to the counsels during the proceedings.Later, he requested Advocate General B V Acharya to explain about the origin and significance of PILs. After that, Acharya also explained about how people misuse PILs. When Petric asked Acharya about what will the court do on in such cases, the latter informed that the court would penalise such petitioners and there was no provision for punishment.
