SABARIMALA: Devaswom and Transport Minister V S Sivakumar has said that a sewage treatment plant would be set up at Sannidhanam and the capacity of the Pampa sewage treatment plant would also be enhanced with the overall objective of bringing down the pollution.Addressing the news conference at Sabarimala Devaswom Guest House here on Thursday, Sivakumar said that a sewage treatment plant of five million litre capacity, an important project under the Sabarimala master plan, would be set up before the next pilgrimage season.The Minister said that 3.5 million litres capacity Pampa swage treatment plant would be expanded to five million tonnes and work on the capacity enhancement would be implemented during the before the next season. He said that the Swami Ayyappan Road, the road linking Pampa with Marakoottam, would be renovated during the next Sabarimala season by spending Rs 5 crore.Insurance coverage: The Minister said that the accident insurance coverage for the pilgrims would be widened to include Erumely and Pulmedu. Safety Manuel: The Government would prepare a full-fledged Safety Manuel to ensure safety and security of Sabarimala pilgrims.The draft safety manuel is already prepared and the recommendations would be implemented during the next season. Additional Chief Secretary K Jayakumar, Travancore Devaswom Board member K V Padmanabhan and K Sicily, Devaswom Commissioner N Vasu and Devaswom chief engineer Ravikumar were present at the conference.
