CHENNAI: Former Sun Pictures Chief Operating Officer W Hansraj Saxena and film producer Ayappan on Friday deposed before Metropolitan Magistrate M P Ram in Saidapet and alleged custodial torture by the CB-CID.When the CB-CID produced the duo before the judge seeking to remand them under judicial custody in connection with the Nithyananda case, Ayappan, who was dhoti-clad, showed him the wounds he allegedly sustained during custodial torture.Ayappan, who was unable to stand on his own as both his legs had wounds and scars, pleaded with the judge to save them from the police torture. The duo claimed that when they were taken to custody by the CB-CID in connection with the 'Thambikottai' film cheating case, the police treated them in an inhuman manner, beat them up and forced them to implicate Sun Network chairman and managing director Kalanithi Maran in the cheating case. When Judge M P Ram asked them as to why they did not inform him about the police torture when he gave them the chance on an earlier occasion, Saxena told the judge that the police had threatened to kill them if they dared to utter a word.Saxena further added that when they were taken to jail, the officials in the central jail got written statements from them claiming that they had sustained the injuries when they were under the custody of CB-CID and not in jail.Saxena also told the judge that they were not given medical aid in the jail. Though his counsel Senthil Kumar requested the judge not to remand them, the judge remanded them in judicial custody till September 23. The judge also asked the CB-CID to check their health at the outpost hospital in Puzhal jail. After getting concurrence from the doctors of the jail, if necessary, the police can shift them to the Government General Hospital, the judge added.Senthil Kumar later told reporters that he would file a petition on custodial torture with the Madras HC.
