Satyameva Jayate: Aamir's attempt to connect people
Aamir Khan has been working on the concept of his TV show for over two years.

Mumbai: Actor-producer Aamir Khan, soon to debut on television with his upcoming show 'Satyameva Jayate', said he was scared to take up the project. "Initially I was scared to do the show as we were travelling on a different path. I was worried. It was in a way difficult, but we knew what we are doing is different, but it comes straight from our heart," he said.

The 47-year-old actor has been working on the concept for over two years after Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, suggested that he get into TV. "I have been working on the show for more than two years. It has taken a toll on my life, films are getting postponed, and other personal things. All I can say is we have left no stone unturned... we want to connect with the people, it is in a way like 'Bharat Jodo Abhiyaan'.

"Through this show we understand the problem of the people, we are not here to make a change. I am no one to change anything. I don't think I am in the position to. I feel understanding a problem and feeling it or holding one's hand or hugging is also important. I may not have the solution, but at least I can hear and understand," Aamir said after unveiling the first promotional song of the show here.

Aamir also said that entertainment does not necessarily mean making people laugh. "I am an entertainer, my attempt is to connect with the people. But entertainment can be of any form, it need not be making people laugh everytime." About the TRP race, Aamir said, "I have no clue what TRP, GRP mean. I don't know how it is calculated, I don't get into all of this. Also, I don't know if they will like it or not."

The actor is keeping everything about the show under wraps. As a result, no one is aware of the format. "I don't want to talk much about how the show will be and about its format. I want everyone to see it directly on TV." Aamir said he has travelled extensively over several weeks to various places in Rajasthan, Kashmir, Kerala, Delhi, Punjab and even in the North-East to shoot for the show. Sukhwinder Singh has sung a 22-minute song, written by Prasoon Joshi and set to the tune by Ram Sampath, for the show.

Aamir has also asked various brand managers not to screen any of his ads during the show, for the fear that they may dilute the show's impact. The show will start from the next month on all Star TV channels, and also on national TV channel, DD.
