Two power staff, who had gone to the village to collect power bills, were detained inside the Panchayat office by people of Mamidala village in Tirumalagiri mandal in Nalgonda district. Villagers complained that there was no power supply for more than three days.The Prakasam Transco officials were locked inside a room in Santamaguluru SC colony whereas officials in Kaikondayugudem in Khammam district and Kistajigudem in Warangal districts were also detained by the protestors. The linemen, bill collectors, metre readers faced the wrath of villagers’ agony at several places.Villagers besieged the sub-stations at Siddhavatam in Kadapa district. Power loom weavers in several areas also protested against the power cuts. Sudden shortage of 723 MW is attributed to the tripping of three units in the state. The unit 2 and 5 of the Rayalaseema Thermal Plant (RTPP), each 210 MW,  tripped on 16 and 17th. But, they were not restored.
