KOCHI: Mullaperiyar Samara Samithi chairman C P Roy, who is said to have been expelled from the post, stated that removing a person from any post is not relevant.Talking to Express, Roy said that he had not got any official information in this regard. However, there were reports that he had been removed from the post of chairman for stating that there was no need for a new dam at Mullaperiyar.Roy had come up with an alternative after the state government failed to take initiative in solving the issue. Reiterating that he stood by his alternative in the Mullaperiyar dam issue, he said that after the water level was reduced to the minimum, a tunnel could be built, through which water could be supplied to Tamil Nadu. He said the farmers’ leader of the five Tamil Nadu districts K M Abbas has accepted the solution put forth by him. “When the farmers at the other side are satisfied, why make all these issues,” he asked. He also stated that there was no need for continuing the strike and called for an amicable solution at the earliest. Roy said that the alternative that he had proposed should have been discussed in detail.
