Revenge speech: Congress wants FIR against Amit Shah, ban on campaigning

A political war has erupted over Amit Shah’s statement on SP and Muzaffarnagar riots while addressing the public in a Jat village in Muzaffarnagar.

Shah, a close aide of BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, had courted controversy by stating that the 2014 LS poll is all about revenge and SP government will be dissolved the day Modi comes to power.

Slamming Shah, a Samajwadi Party leader said that no one can dissolve a government that is in majority.

Criticizing the statement, JD(U) termed it as undemocratic and unconstitutional.

Accusing Shah for "stoking communal fire", Congress approached the Commission demanding "stern action" against him as well as BJP and its PM candidate Modi, including derecognition of the party, for the alleged violation of mode of conduct.

The party has also demanded registration of criminal case against Shah and a complete ban on his further campaigning in Lok Sabha polls.

In the complaint, K C Mittal, Secretary of AICC's Legal department, accused BJP UP incharge of "creating animosity between communities".

Congress leader Raj Babbar appealed to the people not to pay heed to such statements.

Meanwhile, AAP demanded that EC should order registration of criminal case against BJP's Amit Shah for his inflammatory remarks.

Addressing a rally on Friday Shah said, “If you want revenge vote for BJP.”

“This election is about voting out the government that protects and gives compensation to those who killed Jats,” Shah said.
