Rapist sentenced to seven years

PHULBANI: The Additional Session Judge of Phulbani S K Mohapatra on Friday sentenced a rape accused to seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of `5000.
Two year back in November, Prakash Mohanty alias Gundu of Phulbani Sahi under Town police limits had abducted a minor girl and raped her. The victim informed her father and other villagers about the incident, who then filed a case with the police. Based on the testimony of the victim and 14 witnesses, Mohapatra sentenced the accused to undergo rigorous imprisonment of seven years and pay a fine of `5000. In case of default, he would face an additional imprisonment of six months.
