Railway ticket vending at Central Station urged

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shashi Tharoor MP has stressed the need for installing an automatic ticket vending machine at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station for mitigating the hardships of the passengers.He was addressing a meeting of officers of the Thiruvananthapuram Division of the Railways.Tharoor also emphasised the need for doubling the Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil railway link in the light of the proposed multi-crore Vizhinjam seaport project.He also said that the medical college proposed by the Railway should be situated either at Thiruvananthapuram or at Parassala, where the land is available. Tharoor also promised to urge the Railway Board to extend the Parasuram Express to Nagercoil which will help passengers of this sector in a big way.Tharoor promised to take the initiative to get additional funds for the coach terminal at Kochu Veli.Divisional Railway Manager Rajiv Dutt Sharma welcomed the MP and lauded the initiative shown by him for the development of railway-related projects in his constituency.The meeting also reviewed the various railway projects in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency. It highlighted the constraints faced by the Division in enhancing infrastructure at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station, which has been declared a world-class station. Tharoor also expressed satisfaction with the measures adopted by the Division, the Railways said in a statement here.
