Union Minister Kiren Rijiju took a swipe at opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal, questioning their leadership abilities just months ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking at News18 Chaupal, Rijiju said Rahul Gandhi is “not a serious politician” and suggested his entry into politics is driven by his family background rather than any leadership qualities. Rijiju also claimed that Rahul Gandhi plans foreign trips for entertainment, while ministers in the Modi government do not take vacations.
On Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Rijiju said he is a “corrupt man” and a “habitual liar”.
“There is no one more corrupt than Arvind Kejriwal in politics. Kejriwal knows which journalist he should talk to and which journalist he should not. Delhi government works and blows own trumpet. The AAP government gives advertisements to the same media organisation which does not speak against Kejriwal. If any channel or media organisation carries news against Kejriwal, it stops the advertisement,” Rijiju said.
Network18 has launched News18 India Chaupal, an event that features critical discussions and deliberations involving prominent personalities from various fields.
The conclave kicked off with the inaugural session featuring Kiren Rijiju, where he spoke about current political scenario in the country, India’s evolving global image, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the Opposition.
Rijiju highlighted the rapid changes and developments in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He emphasised the significant progress and growth witnessed in the North East in recent years. He said that the perception of the world about India has completely changed today and the country will become a developed nation by 2047.
Rijiju commended PM Modi for taking the country forward. He refuted the claims of any land being ceded to China, emphasising the importance of avoiding spreading false information that impacts national interests.
