New Delhi: Violent protests against power cuts and water shortage in the Capital on Wednesday intensified with angry people pelting stones at buses and blocking traffic.
The issue had its echo in the Delhi Assembly where Opposition BJP staged a walkout when its demand for a special discussion was turned down by the Chair.
People protesting against power cuts in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar turned violent and started pelting stones, damaging at least four buses.
The situation was brought under control after adequate forces were rushed.
In Kondli and Rajbir Nagar, people blocked traffic for some time to protest against water shortage.
The Capital, reeling under severe heat wave conditions, has been witnessing long power cuts for the past few days, leading to frayed tempers among the people.
In a novel protest, some people approached police in central Delhi to register a "missing complaint" against water, local MLA and the municipal councillor.
"We are not getting water and power for the past few days. There is nobody to listen. The municipal councillor and MLA are missing. So, we thought of registering a missing complaint," one of the protesters, Nirmal Kaur said.
