The 1,320 MW power plant for the state will continue to be on hold due to the ongoing coal linkages controversy, according to the Chhattisgarh government.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Chief Minister of the Chhattisgarh Raman Singh said that all facilities that they can provide have been provided, but the matter now lies with the Union government.
“We have completed all formalities and facilitated land, water, environmental clearance to the project. It is up to the Centre’s decision now,” Singh said.
Aman Kumar Singh, Secretary (Energy), Government of Chhattisgarh, told Express, “We have given extended facilities to Karnataka that we have not given to anyone else. We are really pushing to ensure that the project is completed.”
The who’s who of the Chhattisgarh government were in the city to meet potential investors ahead of their Global Investors Meet 2012.
The officials said that they are looking for investments in IT, BT and tourism among other sectors.
Aman Kumar Singh also said that, by the end of the 12th Five Year Plan, the country will be setting up power houses of 90,000 MW of which 30,000 MW will be set up in their state.
“We are already selling power to over 7 states,” Raman Singh said.
On Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), he said that they are opposed to it only when it comes to retail and not in other sectors.
Singh dodged questions on FDI in insurance and pension sectors and said that they have to study the policy before making any comments on them.
The Chhattisgarh chief minister and his team met top industrialists and IT czars as part of their road show to invite new investors to their state.
