THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: City Police Commissioner T J Jose said that the city police would soon launch a drive against begging in the city. The decision was taken on the wake of increasing number of beggars in the city which was causing serious law and order concerns.“Though there is a ban on beggars in the city, we have practical difficulties in enforcing it. It is even suspected that agencies which deploy beggars are operating in the city. We are planning to track down such agencies,” he told reporters here on Tuesday. He also said the police would soon initiate steps to collect the details of migrant labourers in the city.A recent high-level meeting of police officers had decided to prepare a data base of migrant labourers as it has been noticed that criminal cases involving migrant labourers were on increase.
