Police attack college students

RAJAHMUNDRY: Tension prevailed at Sri Kandukuri Veeresalingam Panthulu Degree College here on Friday when some policemen attacked the students.Condemning the attack, students boycotted their classes and demanded suspension of constable Chaganti Rama Krishna holding him responsible for the whole incident.The trobule started when Samuel Raj and some other NSS volunteers questioned Rama Krishna and families of other cops living beside the college for dumping garbage on the campus.The constable who got angry, informed the matter to his colleagues.Twelve constables and three sub-inspectors barged into the college premises and attacked the students.Officer on special duty Janaki Sharmila threatened to cane the students if they continue to agitate against the police action.Then students raised slogans against her. College principal B Santha Rajyam, teaching and non-teaching staff condemned the police attack.
