KOZHIKODE: The Kerala High court on Thursday upheld the State government’s decision to oust B Ashok from the post of Vice-Chancellor, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU).Justice T R Ramachandran Nair passed the order while considering a petition filed by B Ashok challenging the government decision to remove him. The charge of the Vice-Chancellor has been given to K Jayakumar, Additional Chief Secretary and the Agricultural Production Commissioner. The petitioner alleged that the order was issued due to extraneous reasons and is vitiated by mala fide.However, the court held that it could not find any infirmity in the notification published by the government.The petitioner also alleged that the reason for his removal was that he had written against the present Chief Secretary in an article published in one of the Malayalam dailies.Ashok also contented that he has been in the IAS from 1998 and served as District Collector in Pathanamthitta, Sub-Collector in Kollam, project director Jalanidhi, director Animal Husbandry and was entitled to continue in the post of VC till 2016.However, the University said that there had no violation of the principles of natural justice in not affording an opportunity to the petitioner before the removal. The court accepted the submission and dismissed the plea of Ashok.
