KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking Vigilance inquiry into the misappropriation of funds allotted for the ‘Mythri Housing Project’ for constructing houses for economically weaker sections in the State. The petitioner, Youth Congress leader and former Palakkad municipal councillor P V Rajesh, had filed the public interest litigation (PIL) in 2006 seeking an inquiry against the then minister for Public Works P J Joseph. The petitioner, however, on Friday submitted that he did not want to proceed with the case.A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice P R Ramachandra Menon recorded it and dismissed the petition as the matter was not pressed. The petitioner had alleged that there was largescale diversion of funds. The Audit Department had pointed out misappropriation of funds. In spite of all these, the then government kept mum and there was no move for a Vigilance inquiry against the minister, he had submitted. According to the petitioner, due to the diversion of funds, the government suffered substantial loss.
