HYDERABAD: A public interest litigation petition was filed in the High Court on Friday seeking direction to the state government to cancel the allotment of one-acre land to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and to take back the same along with the building (Telangana Bhavan) constructed thereon.It was alleged that the land was being used for commercial purpose and the office of the T News channel was located in the building.TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao’s nephew and Congress worker Ch Umesh Rao of the city filed the petition, alleging that the state government had failed to act upon a representation made by him on February 22 seeking cancellation of the allotment of land on Road No.12 in Banjara Hills area on the ground that the TRS, in violation of the GO, leased out the second floor of Telangana Bhavan to Telangana Broadcasting Pvt Ltd (T News channel) for commercial purpose.The government had allotted land to an extent of one acre (4,840 sq yards) to the TRS for construction of its party office at a nominal value of Rs 100 per sq yard in 2004. As per the GO, the land allotted to the party office shall not be utilised either in full or in part for any residential or commercial purpose or alienated to any person or institution. For violation of any of the conditions mentioned in the GO, the alienation shall automatically stand terminated and the land along with the buildings, if any, would be resumed by the government, he added.Umesh Rao named the chief secretary, principal secretary (revenue), TRS and Telangana Broadcasting Pvt Ltd as the respondents.
