CHENNAI: Parents staged a protest outside the Loyola Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kodambakkam, on Monday against their wards being subjected to corporal punishment.According to Raju, one of the protesting parents, the school authorities had forced the students to stand in the hot sun on the school ground. Further, they were allegedly made to sit on the floor of the classroom last Friday. According to the parents, the students were punished for not bringing their handbooks, which have not yet been distributed by the school.The parents have filed a complaint against the school authorities with the Kodambakkam police. However, the police have not taken any action in this regard yet. The school authorities were unavailable for comment, while repeated attempts to reach the school correspondent proved futile.
