New Delhi: Top leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party will be meeting on Saturday to discuss who the new Prime Minister will be.

The leaders had met earlier for the same purpose on Thursday but a decision was not taken then.

On Friday, the party said it would name the new prime minister only after the date for convening the national assembly is announced.

President Pervez Musharraf says this will happen in he will convene the new National Assembly in 10 days.

Musharraf also promised to support the incoming coalition government. But he warned that peace must be maintained.

His position appeared to have received a boost from General Kayani, who dismissed reports that the army was distancing itself from Musharraf.

Kayani also warned that any kind of schism at any level would not be in the national interest.

Kayani was addressing the corps commanders in Rawalpindi.
