HYDERABAD: The Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) will stage protests on the campus on Friday to mark the second anniversary of central government's announcement of the beginning of the process for carving out Telangana state and then going back on its promise.The OUJAC, led by TRS Vidyarthi Vibhag, will stage a mass protest hunger strike at the Arts College.We are expecting thousands of students to take part in the protest.Students from across the region will sit on a fast till the evening as a mark of protest against the Centre's backtracking on the December 9 statement by Union home minister P.Chidambaram,'' OUJAC spokesman T Kondal said here on Thursday.The protest programme will be inaugurated of by TRS legislator T Harish Rao. Leaders of various other political parties and TJAC convener Kodandaram are likely to visit the camp.Meanwhile, a group of OUJAC approached the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and submitted a petition alleging foisting of false cases on proTelangana student activists Balka Suman, K Mahesh and others. "We fear threat to the lives of own own selves and of our families, and to our properties as well. The police preventing us from participating in the 10K run is another example of police highhandedness against Telangana activists,'' another spokesman M Krishank said.
