Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Prof K V Thomas, inaugurated the centenary building of the National Test House (southern region) (NTH) at Taramani, at a function here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister dwelt on the relevance of the organisation, given that consumers wouldn’t want to compromise on the quality of the products they purchase. “Keeping in mind the competitive scenario, the capacities of various NTH units are being expanded,” he added. Speakers on the occasion said that the unit will be utilised for testing consumer products.
Thomas acknowledged the help the organisation received from former union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee. Dr Bijender Kumar, DG of NTH, Pankaj Agrawala, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, and Sunil Kumar, Director of NTH (Eastern region); were among those present.
