With the view to reach out to a larger number of Indians, Twitter has added support for Hindi, in addition to four other languages. The move may bring more Indians to the microblogging platform.

Besides Hindi, the company has also launched support for Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Tagalog and Malay. To switch their default langauge on Twitter, users can visit their Twitter settings page and change the language to their preferred langauge. This will convert interface instructions in the language chosen.

"Last week's announcement of 100 million active users worldwide shows Twitter's current reach; with these new languages Twitter will now be more easily accessible to almost half a billion people around the world," said Twitter in a blog post.

Now, Twitter fully supports 17 languages. The company plans to add more languages including Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Polish and Hungarian.
