A deadly fire broke out in an apartment within the 16th Avenue society of Gaur City in Greater Noida West on Thursday. Fire tenders have been deployed at the spot and efforts to douse the blaze are underway. The fire started in one of the units on the second floor of the residential complex.
Visuals from the scene showed thick fumes of black smoke emanating from the building as resident scrambled to safety.
According to an Aaj Tak report, many people are suspected to be trapped inside the flats. Authorities are yet to determine the cause behind the blaze and the extent of damage and/or injuries.
Firefighters from nearby areas have been deployed to assist in extinguishing the fire, a Hindustan Times report said.
Last year in April, a fire broke out at 14th Avenue of Gaur City 2. The fire reportedly broke out on the ground floor of Tower L of the society and spread upwards. No casualties were reported.
In a similar incident, a fire broke out at Nawroj Hill Society in the Pali Hill area of Bandra West in Mumbai on Wednesday. Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez stays in the same building.
According to locals, the fire started in a kitchen on the 13th floor of the building. Jacqueline Fernandez’s house is reportedly a 5 BHK lavish residence in the building.
“The fire broke out in the residential building situated on Nargis Dutt Road at around 8 PM,” a civic official was quoted as saying by PTI.
