New Delhi: The Tihar Jail has a new inmate.
Son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, Rahul Mahajan, booked under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), was lodged in Tihar Jail after a court remanded him to 14-days judicial custody on Thursday.
However, the jail authorities have made no special arrangements for the new inmate. Rahul Mahajan was offered dal, roti and sabzi for dinner.
Sources said Rahul has been kept in jail number three, which has about 2,000 undertrials locked up for several criminal cases including cases of murder, attempt to murder, theft, drug peddling and other crimes.
"He will be treated like any other prisoner here. The food will be same what others are getting. His health condition will be checked everyday by our jail doctors and if he needs any medication, that will be given," sources in the jail said.
As per the jail schedule, Rahul has to get up at 0600 hrs (IST) and has to be present at the counting at 0700 hrs (IST), they said.
