THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Giving a clear message to the party cadre and party-watchers, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said that there was no ambiguity in the politburo stand on the Mullaperiyar issue. Inaugurating the reception committee office of the CPM state conference to be held at Thiruvananthapuram in February next year, he said that the politburo had stated that it was concerned at the strength of the dam. The politburo had also stated that the Prime Minister should intervene to solve the issue in an amicable manner. He pointed out that the CPM had extended all support to the government on the dam issue. He alleged that some vested interests were trying to create confusion among the people. He asked what was wrong in the CPM politburo’s stand that the Central Government should intervene in solving the dam issue as there was a dispute over it between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. He said there was no question of the CPM politburo going against the demands of Kerala.  Referring to the controversy over the Advocate-General’s report on the dam issue submitted before the High Court,Pinarayi  said there was no need for a hide-and-seek game on the issue.  He asked Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan to make it clear as to why he had initially supported the Advocate-General’s statement.
