In a move to safeguard government lands and to ensure than land is allocated under uniform guidelines in future, the state cabinet on Friday approved the new government Land Allotment Policy.
The move came as the government felt that there is no mechanism to ensure effective method to check whether the lands allocated were being used for the intended purposes.
The new policy will also make way for uniformity in fixing the price for land and guidelines for allotment.
Under the new policy, the AP Land Management Authority (APLMA) will recommend all lands, including those for government organisations, to the state government within 30 days after receiving the proposals.
The government will decide on it within the next 60 days. The lease period of the lands has also been increased from 25 years to 33 years. Every application will be scrutinised by CCLA empowered committee.
