Cairo: Egypt's new prime minister designate will finalise a new cabinet on Saturday, with several standing ministers expected to retain their posts in a government aimed at placating protesters demanding a national salvation government.
The government will have 32 ministers, according to state-run news agency MENA.
Kamal el-Ganzouri is expected to meet nine new figures that will be members of the government, including Mohamed Ibrahim Ali, likely to take over the antiquities ministry portfolio.
Several members of the Essam Sharaf cabinet have retained their posts in the national salvation government of el Ganzouri.
The remaining ministers are Abdallah Ghorab for oil, Mohamed Salem for telecommunications, Mohamed Abdel Fadil el Qusi for Wakfs, Mahmoud Eissa for industry and foreign trade, Hesham Kandil for irrigation and Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour for tourism.
They are to meet Ganzouri later in the day.
Also retaining their posts in the national salvation government are Ossama Heikal for information, Hassan Younis for electricity and Fayza Abul Naga for planning and international cooperation.
Gouda Abdel Khaleq will remain minister for social solidarity and will also be in charge of the supply portfolio.
The cabinet of Essam Sharaf resigned after intense protests rocked the country over the demand for a quicker transition to democracy and an end to the control of the military. Over 40 people were killed in the violence, that came just before Egypt went to its first phase of polls.
