Mumbai: In a fragging incident, a Mumbai Police officer committed suicide after killing his senior colleague inside the Vakola police station following a dispute over leave

Assistant Sub inspector Dileep Shirke killed himself after firing three rounds at Senior Inspector Vilas Joshi. Shirke's family has alleged that he was under depression after the department initiated an inquiry into the leave he had taken.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria confirmed the incident and said, "He entered the chamber of the police inspector. They had an argument and then he opened fire. Senior police inspector Joshi got injured in the incident and the assistant sub inspector Shirke shot himself and died. The investigation has been handed over to the Crime Branch."

Shirke allegedly fired at Joshi with his service revolver on Saturday evening after the duo had a heated argument.
