The State Government is planning to intensify its beautification drive in the Capital City and has drawn up a slew of plans, which include new shopping complex, improved wall paintings and median plantation.
To start with, the Housing and Urban Development Department is planning to take up new wall paintings along the stretch connecting Raj Bhawan and AG Square. This will be expanded to all major roads of the City.
The B K College of Arts and Crafts has been asked to prepare an action plan with time lines so that the work can be taken up immediately. The Department is also planning a vehicle- free street in the City with a complex housing shopping, entertainment and eateries. The stretch from Raj Mahal to AG Square will be considered for developing such a complex which will have trees and benches for the shoppers. The stretch near Police Ground near Xavier Square will also be considered for a similar complex.
Plans are afoot to reduce the width of the median of the road connecting Sishu Bhawan with Raj Mahal. The Department is planning take up plantation along the stretch as part of the beautification drive.
