BANGALORE: Astrologers and sky-gazers had been awaiting the auspicious day of January 30, when the first quarter of the waxing moon appeared near Jupiter. Renowned astrologer S K Jain has predicted a bright future for those who performed ceremonies on this day. “Children born on this day are blessed with a bright future and marriages, house warming ceremonies and other celebrations performed on this day will bring good fortune. The Valmiki Ramayana has mentioned that Lord Ramachandra was born when this combination was seen in the eastern horizon. Jesus Christ was born when this combination was seen. The planets and starts rose to guide the astrologers to Christ’s manger,” he said. Elaborating, he said, “This brings about a Gajakesari Yoga. Such a combination is seen during the saptami of the maga masa shukla paksha and is seen during uttarayana, when the heat of the sun moves north. This also marks the end of the cold season and the beginning of the shishira ritu.” He said that for Karnataka and India, an auspicious time awaits. Meanwhile, advising students to make the most of this auspicious time, Jain said, “Worshipping God during this period will erase all bad karma and will rid you of all troubles.”The moon reached the first quarter stage at 11.10 pm (central time) and the moon appeared half lit in sunshine and half immersed in its own shadow.
