CUTTACK: The deepening fissures in the BJD organisation in the city on Thursday came to the fore once again when the house of a party functionary was ransacked and family members attacked following a clash between two groups at the MS Law College here. Post-election violence erupted at the Law College hostel between two rival groups in the evening, one allegedly owing allegiance to the Biju Chatra Janata Dal vice- president Byomkesh Ray and the other to Sadar MLA Pravat Biswal. The clash spilled out on to the roads and the opposing group allegedly barged into the house of Ray and ransacked it. The group did not even refrain from attacking the family members and parents of Ray.Ray accused Biswal of being behind the attack. “There were about 30 persons who laid siege to my home. They launched an attack and did not even spare my parents,” Ray alleged adding he had lodged a complaint with police naming the MLA. Chauliaganj police have registered a case. “We are investigating the matter,” ACP Nimai Charan Sethi said. ENS
