THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A two-day national conference, ‘Advances in Thermophysics and Heat Transfer’ (ASET 2012) beginning here on June 1 will focus on advancements, achievements and future challenges in the sector. Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) director P S Veeraraghavan will inaugurate the two-day national conference and the 63rd annual general body meeting of the Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) at Hotel Mascot. AeSI president and Kingfisher Airlines chairman Vijay Mallya will preside over the function. The conference is being organised by the Thiruvananthapuram chapter of the AeSI. The conference will touch upon specialised areas, including aerothermodynamics, computational methods for thermal design and analysis, plasma dynamics and cryogenic heat transfer and testing of aerospace and propulsion systems, AeSI branch chairman C K Kunhikammaran said in a statement. Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) dean Dr V Adimurthy will deliver the keynote address on ‘Advances and challenges in hypersonic thermodynamics for space systems’ on the occasion. T K Anuradha, PD, GSAT-10, ISRO, will deliver the Kalpana Chawla Memorial lecture. ADA director P S Subramanyam will deliver the Dr Biren Roy memorial lecture, LPSC director S Ramakrishnan the Prof Satish Dhawan memorial lecture and IITM aerospace dean Dr Job Kurien, the Neelakantan memorial lecture. A business session is also planned alongside the ASET conference and the technical sessions.
