New Delhi: The Delhi demolitions case comes up for hearing in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday. The court will be listening to what the Coordination committee headed by Kapil Sibal has to say about the MCD demolitions.
The Court had earlier directed the committee comprising Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, DPCC President Ram Babu Sharma and Minister of State AK Walia, to submit an Action Taken Report regarding the developments in the ongoing MCD demolitions in the capital.
The committee had said that the demolitions will continue regardless of the land belonging to the public or the government and is likely to seek at least six months’ time from the court to formulate a set of guidelines for demolitions.
“All the sample surveys and the facts that have emerged will be taken to court. We will tell them that the problem is not only about 18271 illegal structures, these are just those areas where the MCD sent notices. There are many places where no notices were sent. Our sample survey suggests that in Delhi, about 80 per cent unauthorized constructions still exist,” Sibal said.
