Manavjit claims trap gold in Asian Shooting at Patiyala
The Indian shot 138 (117+ 21) for gold, while Japan's Oyama Shigetaka took silver with 135.

Patiala: India's Manavjit Singh Sandhu won the trap gold medal after he shot 138 (117+ 21) in the Asian Shooting Championship here Saturday.

The silver was won by Japan's Oyama Shigetaka, who scored a total of 135 (114+21), while Meqland Naser of Kuwait won the bronze scoring 134 (114 +20).

Shooters from 17 different countries participated in the event out of which four were in MQS category.

The team gold was won by India.

Sandhu (117), Prithviraj (112), Anirudh Singh (109) scored a total of 338 to bag the yellow metal.

The silver in the men's team event was won by Kuwait's Meqland Naser (114), Al Faihan Abdul Rahman (113) and Aldeehani Fehaid (105).

The bronze was won by Japan's Oyama Shigetaka(114), Uematsu Naoyuki (101) and Tekenaka Toshiaki (99).

In the Maharaja Yadavinder Singh Memorial Indian Open Shotgun Championships, Sandhu won the individual gold after scoring 140 (117+23).

Sandhu got a prize money of USD 6,000, and the silver medal was won by Almudhaf Khaled of Kuwait who scored 138 to win USD 4000.

The bronze was won by Meqlad Naser, also of Kuwait, making him richer by USD 3000.

In the Shotgun Championships, the team gold was won by Kuwait's Meqlad Naser (114), Al Faihan Abdul Rahman (113), and Aldeehani Fehaid (105) with a total score of 332.

The medals were awarded by Lt General, Sanjeev Chachra, General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Army's Western Command.

Beijing Olympics gold medalist Abhinav Bindra and Raninder Singh, president, NRAI, were among those present on the occasion.
