A tent house worker was arrested on Friday in connection with a `20 lakh theft case at an NGO office in Dabeerpura. Police also recovered Rs 17. 5 lakh from his possession. Another two accused in the case are still absconding.
According to police, Ali Haider, owner of an NGO in Dabeerpura, had collected funds from various companies and kept Rs 20 lakh in his office. He would distribute cloths, food and other groceries to needy people every year during Ramzan.The three accused worked in a tent house located near the NGO office. They had noticed Ali Haider keeping the cash in the office. The trio made an entry into the office by breaking open the main door and burgled the amount, said Dabeerpura inspector Y Rajasekhar. The accused, Meerja Riyaj Ali (23), confessed that two other, Sohail Ali (21) and Syed Ali, were also involved.
