Raged over his wife’s alleged illicit relationship, a 30-year-old man murdered his wife’s paramour and later his mother-in-law.
The incident was reported at New Bank Colony in Subramanyapura police station limits on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Kamalamma, 50. The accused has confessed of killing Anil, who is said to be his wife’s lover, before murdering Kamalamma. The accused, Lokesh, 30, is a resident of Harinagar.
According to the police, Lokesh was married to Chandrika. He was unemployed and reportedly did not give money for household chores. This led to family disputes and about two months ago, Chandrika had deserted him and had moved out to her mother’s house. In the meantime, Lokesh suspected that she had an extra-marital affair with Anil.
“On Tuesday around 3 pm, he went to Kamalamma’s residence with an intention of killing Chandrika. But she had gone to a relative’s house and Lokesh picked up a quarrel with Kamalamma and in a fit of rage, he allegedly hacked her to death. Later, he came to the police station and surrendered. He confessed of murdering Kamalamma and also revealed that before killing her he had gone to Thalaghattapura and had murdered Anil as well,” the police explained.
The police found Anil’s body at BDA Layout in Thalaghattapura.
Meanwhile, it is also said that Anil had applied for a divorce, but his wife was reluctant to sign the related papers. It is suspected that this might have also led to the killing.
